Canalys Research has published some great insights on the Worldwide smartphone market. According to their research, Android based smartphone rocked 2009 and the shipments have increased by a whooping 886% year on year from Q2 2009. This is indeed a great number and shows that Android as a smart phone OS is delivering what it promised when it was launched. Guys at Google must be really happy. MeeGo OS Video Leaked

In its quest to find the perfect mobile phone OS that will revamp its whole smartphone strategy, Nokia developed MeeGo. MeeGo, which is based on the Linux platform is the upcoming new OS that will be available through some of Nokia's new smart phones. MeeGo was announced at the Mobile World Congress by Nokia and Intel. Its the integration of Intel's Moblin and Nokia's Maemo. Apart from MeeGo, Nokia is also working on Symbian^3 and Symbian^4. India is a huge mobile market and the numbers speak for themselves. According to a latest research publication from Gartner, Indian mobile handset sales will reach 139 million units by the end of 2010. In today's world of user generated content, companies are focusing more on what users are looking for and not what the companies want them to see or use. Nokia C6 Goes on Sale on Nokia...

The Nokia C6, which was supposed to go live for sale at the end of July is now available for sale on Nokia Europe website for 289 Euros. Nokia is giving the phone unlocked so you can use it with any SIM card. The C6, which looks like the 5800 is full touch screen and also has a physical QWERTY keyboard which slides out. The video below shows the demo of Nokia Messaging running on the upcoming Nokia N8. Nokia N8 is the first Symbian^3 based smart phone from Nokia, which the company says can prove to be a game changer. Consumer research firm, The Nielsen Company, released some interesting data on the iPhone this week. The study found:- As of April 2009, there are 6.4 million active iPhone users in the U.S., up from 2.1 million a year prior.- 37% watch video on their phone (6x as likely as the typical subscriber).- There are roughly as many iPhone users 55 and older as there are 13-24. I was poking around the iTunes AppStore this week and took a $.99 chance on a recently launched game from FDG Entertainment called Parachute Panic. This fun casual game requires you to successfully land a host of parachutists into passing boats while trying to avoid obstacles such as helicopters, U.F.O´s, sharks and thunder clouds.
